Not every air purifier that is labeled as “smart” does work with Apple HomeKit. Actually, absolute majority of air cleaners aren’t compatible with Apple’s smart home system – and not all of those that support it are good in practice.

In this article, I am going to explore the five best air purifiers compatible with Apple HomeKit that are good.

smartmi P1 Air Purifier

Room Coverage:
180 - 320 sq. ft.
CADR:
150 - 120 CFM
Filter Life:
6 months
Replacement Filter:
Check Price
Noise Level:
19 - 49 dB
Power:
30W
Dimensions:
17.2" x 11.3" x 11.1"
Weight
6.6 pounds

smartmi P1 is considered by many the best HomeKit-compatible air purifier. And I totally agree with that opinion for the following reasons:

  • It has a decent CADR rating of 120 – 150 (120 CFM smoke, 130 CFM dust, 150 CFM pollen). More on CADR you can read here.
  • It uses a 3-stage air cleaning system that doesn’t produce ozone and includes the pre-filter, the true HEPA filter and the filter with activated carbon inside.
  • It’s the best HomeKit air purifier when it comes to the removal of allergens from the air.
  • The filter’s lifespan is around 6 months and it is fairly priced.
  • The manufacturer isn’t trying to convince everyone that the unit is capable of covering large areas – and if you’re familiar with my reviews, you’d know how many times the actual space an air purifier can clean is smaller compared to what’s been said in the product description.
  • The smartmi is really quiet – 19 decibels you won’t hear at night, so running it 24/7 in your bedroom is the way to go.
  • Works with Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Google Assistant or via app
  • Lastly, the unit comes with a nice handle – I wish more manufacturers took this approach to make their units. It’s the easiest portable air purifier to move, especially for elderly people!

To sum up, the smartmi P1 air purifier is worth the price. And if you can get one on a sale don’t think twice – this piece of technology is definitely worth every penny!

Airversa HomeKit Air Purifier AP2 Purelle

Room Coverage:
300 sq. ft.
CADR:
130 CFM
Filter Life:
4 months
Replacement Filter:
Check Price
Noise Level:
23 - 53 dB
Power:
24W
Dimensions:
8.66" x 8.66" x 13.58"
Weight
6.53 pounds

Airversa AP2 Purelle is also a great Apple HomeKit-compatible air purifier. Its specs are similar to the previously reviewed smartmi for the same price (almost). The major differences are:

  • design
  • louder performance
  • smaller filter life (4 vs 6 months on average if used 24/7) though it is cheaper
  • lack of a handle
  • thread as an additional way to connect the air purifier to Apple (requires a Thread Border Router which is a HomPod mini, or an Apple TV 4K 2 or 3 gen.) or you have to use Bluetooth
  • not compatible with other voice assistants (Alexa, for example)

Despite these differences, the Airversa is a good option to clean air in your 300 sq. ft. room, especially if you already own an Apple TV or a HomPod.

smartmi P2 Air Purifier for Apple Home

Room Coverage:
484 sq. ft.
CADR:
223 CFM
Filter Life:
6 - 12 months
Replacement Filter:
Check Price
Noise Level:
30 - 64 dB
Power:
40W
Dimensions:
12" x 12" x 25"
Weight
10.80 pounds

The third place I would give to the smartmi P2 air purifier. In short, this is an improved version of the initial model the company released prior. This one features increased coverage up to 484 sq. ft. at over 3 air changes per hour (more on that here) due to higher CADR, larger filter and more powerful fan to circulate the air.

When it comes to downsides, there are two: the unit is pretty loud and it lacks a handle. It is not as heavy as other models on the market, but I wish it had one. The price has also increased by 50%.

Should you get one? I’d say it’s a good HomeKit air purifier for an office or your living room where noise production doesn’t matter much compared to the bedroom. The replacement filters are also more expensive, but they have a decent lifespan (minimum 6 months but on average it’s more like 12).

Meross Smart WiFi Air Purifier for Home

Room Coverage:
150 sq. ft.
CADR:
93 CFM
Filter Life:
3 - 6 months
Replacement Filter:
Check Price
Noise Level:
24 - 48 dB
Power:
30W
Dimensions:
15.4" x 7.1" x 7.1"
Weight
5 pounds

Meross Smart WiFi Air Purifier is not as good as previously reviewed air purifiers, but an OK choice if you want to surround yourself with smart things as this device supports different voice assistants (Siri, Alexa, Google) and also can be connected to HomeKit or your Apple Watch (uses 2.4GHz network for connection).

When it comes to air purification, the Meross air purifier isn’t as good as smartmi or Airversa cleaners and shows the best results in rooms smaller than 200 sq. ft. despite the claim of being able to clean an area of 700 sq. ft. The unit simply lacks the power to do that.

On the bright side, this unit is priced slightly above $100 so if you want to try one you can do it without spending much of your cash.

Sensibo Pure

Room Coverage:
173 sq. ft.
CADR:
76 CFM
Filter Life:
6 months
Replacement Filter:
Check Price
Noise Level:
max 50 dB
Power:
<30W
Dimensions:
7.68" x 7.68" x 15.28"
Weight
4 pounds

Sensibo Pure takes the last spot in this air purifiers rating mostly for one thing: it’s overpriced! Support for smart home and various assistants is good, and the manufacturer has put up good guides (this one focuses on how to connect the air purifier to HomeKit, for example) to help their customers, but in my opinion, it still doesn’t validate the price tag. Why buy the Sensibo Pure if can get the better smartmi for the same price?

The only reason I have put this air purifier on this list is that it works. It delivers on its promises and it would be good if one day the unit receives a fair price tag.
