AIRDOCTOR is a brand of Ideal Living, LLC – a California-based company. AIRDOCTOR features 4 air purifiers in the line-up: AD 1000, AD2000, AD3000 and AD5000. The first one is a bit outdated, so I’m not going to review it, but three others are new and powerful.
Except for the large AIRDOCTOR 5000 (this is a very interesting air purifier), all other models feature 3 filters (pre-filter merged with Carbon filter, plus one UltraHEPA filter – here’s more on HEPA air purifiers) that catch virus particles, dust, remove odors and VOCs. All units are portable, with built-in recessed handles – moving them around is super easy. The biggest model also features hidden casters.
All AIRDOCTOR air purifiers come with an in-built sensor that automatically adjusts the fan speed depending on the number of airborne pollutants it senses in the air. The data on air pollutants is displayed on the front panel.
All units have a one-year limited warranty (30 days for filters).
Not let’s take a closer look at Air Doctor AD3000, AD5000 and AD2000.

AIRDOCTOR AD3000 is the most popular Air Doctor air purifier and rightfully so. It delivers 4 air changes per hour (ACH) in 638 sq. ft. spaces, meaning it can provide relief for people who suffer from allergies and other health issues related to air quality and general pollution. At the same time, the unit can clean the 1,274 sq. ft. area in just 30 minutes.
What caught my attention is that this air purifier isn’t quiet at all. It’s a good thing if prefer to hear the unit is working – as it means, the AD3000 does the job (and it cleans the air quickly – for example, kitchen odors disappear in minutes). However, when the heavy smoke smell, allergens and other airborne particles are removed, you usually run your unit at the lowest speed. And that’s where you will find the biggest disadvantage of this unit.
The AD3000 allows you to select one of 4 speeds and at the lowest speed it produces a whopping 39 decibels of noise. It’s relatively quiet during the day, but at night 39 decibels may be the deal breaker for people who are too sensitive to extra sounds. However, if you’re up to some relatively loud white noise to help you get to sleep – the AD3000 is an excellent choice.

AIRDOCTOR AD5000 delivers 4 ACH in areas up to 1,000 square feet and is one of the most powerful portable HEPA air purifiers available on the market today thanks to its high CADR rating and 6 filters in total (2 pre-filters, 2 UltraHEPA and 2 Carbon). This dual 3-stage air filtration eliminates all kinds of pollution, including VOCs like formaldehyde.
Despite increased performance, the unit produces less noise compared to the cheaper AD3000: at the lowest speed it makes only 30 decibels – a quiet white noise that doesn’t disturb at all.
All in all, the Air Doctor 5000 rivals the best portable air purifiers from Austin Air and Airpura when it comes to air filtration. The only downside is that replacement filters are quite pricey and they do not last for years. There are 3-rd party solutions (link is above), but they not as effective as the genuine AirDoctor filters.

Compared to the previously reviewed air purifiers, the AIRDOCTOR AD2000 doesn’t have any noticeable advantage over other air purifiers. It makes a lot of noise, so running it at night in your bedroom isn’t the best idea (unless you love white noise), its CADR isn’t as good as it could be and the filters aren’t as large. Get it only when it is on sale.
Wrapping Up: Should You Buy An AirDoctor Air Purifier?
Overall, AirDoctor air purifiers are good, but the final rating depends on the model.
In my opinion, the AIRDOCTOR AD5000 is the best air cleaner made by the company: it is easy to handle, comes with large filters and offers dual filtration. When we compare it with another air purifier that features dual filtration – Hathaspace HSP003 – the AD5000 is a clear winner due to its large coverage at a cost of the slightly increased price.
The most popular AIRDOCTOR AD3000 is a decent machine that works as intended. The only real downside of this unit is the sound production at the lowest speed – but if you are intended to run it at a middle or high speed, this downside is negligible. A must buy if on sale!
On the other hand, I cannot recommend the AIRDOCTOR AD2000 at all. It’s overpriced and isn’t worth the price. Get it at a discount or buy an air cleaner from Winix or Coway – this way you spend less but get more out for your buck.
