Coway is a well-known Korean brand. Their air purifiers are sold in millions and continue cleaning air in many US households and abroad.
Cuckoo Electronics Co. is another Korean brand, but their air purifiers are relatively unknown to the general public. However, it is popular in Malaysia and other Asian countries.
Today I have decided to make a comparison between the Coway and Cuckoo HEPA air purifiers. For the first comparison I’ve picked the best Coway Airmega air purifier and the best Cuckoo air cleaner for small and medium rooms.
For the second comparison I’ve picked Coway Airmega 400s and Cuckoo CAC-D2020FW to see which one is better for large rooms.

When comparing the Coway air purifier to its Cuckoo counterpart head-to-head, Coway looks and cleans air better. In addition to higher CADR rating (that means faster and better filtration of particles from the air), the Airmega AP-1512HH also known as “Mighty Air Purifier”, features in-built ionizer. This function may work not for everyone as it releases a bit of ozone and some people do not tolerate it, but it results in a better result overall as air smells clean and fresh.
That’s why I recommend getting the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH instead of the Cuckoo CAC-J1510FW, especially if you can get it at a discount.

Compared to the previous air purifiers, these are “monsters” in the world of air cleaners. Both of them can clean air in large rooms, over 600 sq. ft. in size. If we look at the specifications, the Cuckoo air purifier has better performance in removing various particles and utilizes a better air filter.
However, there is a problem: filter replacements. You can easily find a replacement filter for the Airmega 400s, yet the same cannot be said about the Cuckoo. Even at the official website cuckooamerica.com there is a change you won’t find replacement filters for this air cleaner. In a nutshell, you pay almost $800 for the air purifier that will last up to 12 months, as this is the maximum lifespan for the Cuckoo air filter. After it wears out the entire unit is useless.
So my advice here is go and get the Coway Airmega 400s. On a bright side, it’s often on sale and the price can go down to $500 – 600 per unit sometimes.
